An Introduction – All about me

Welcome to my blog!

I’m glad you’ve come across my blog. I created this page to share my two cents about ESL teaching. I post “confessions” about the teaching profession (things they don’t tell you in school) — some tips and tricks that I’ve picked up over the years.

So, a short introduction, my name is Sara and I’m a student at the University of Warsaw. I have completed my Bachelor's Degree in Foreign language Teaching (English and French) and spent a number of years teaching (I promise no spoilers in this post). Currently, I am a student at the Pedagogy Faculty in the Graduate Programme in Teaching English to Young Learners and at the Institute of English Studies where I study English Philology also at the graduate level.

I grew up in Canada and moved to Poland about five years ago. I have Polish roots, so it was a chance for me to reconnect with my family and explore the rich Polish culture. I can speak a handful of languages, such as English, Polish, French and American Sign Language – but I am always eager to learn more and improve my skills. Besides, I love expressing my creative side through drawing and painting. Utilizing specific arts tools and playing with (or manipulating) them is a satisfying process. A good artist chooses their tools and materials with a specific intention in mind, just as a teacher needs to decide upon effective methods and activities to be used in the classroom to achieve a desired result.

Well, that’s a bit about me, stay tuned for more posts coming your way!

If we have anything in common, let me know in the comments below!

Your ability to use the sign language is so impressive, I'm curious how long did it take you to learn it?

  7. Hi Sara!
I am really impressed that you can use so many languages to communicate. I think that French is the language of elite. My friend, who is a native speaker of French, was trying to teach me something, but I do not remember much.
Good to hear that you could reconnect with your family in Poland. I hope you feel good here. Do you consider coming back to Canada one day? Any other place? Or you think about staying in Poland? :)
